Robert Anthony Stoops (born September 9, 1960) is a former American college football coach. He is the former head football coach at the University of Oklahoma, a position he held from 1999 until he announced his retirement June 7, 2017. During the 2000 season, Stoops led the Sooners to an Orange Bowl victory and a national championship. Prior to coaching at Oklahoma, Stoops held various coordinator and position-coach positions at Iowa, Kansas State and Florida. In 2000, Stoops led his team to three consecutive wins over ranked teams including Texas, Kansas State and Nebraska. Stoops was awarded the 2000 Paul "Bear" Bryant Award and the 2000 and 2003 Walter Camp Coach of the Year. Stoops has been nicknamed "Big Game Bob" by both supporters and detractors.
Lincoln Michael Riley (born September 5, 1983) is an American football coach and former player. He is the head coach for the Oklahoma Sooners football team as of June 7, 2017, replacing retiring head coach Bob Stoops. Riley went to Muleshoe High School in West Texas. He began his high school career at defensive end and made the move to Quarterback for his Junior and Senior seasons. Riley played quarterback at Texas Tech University as a walk-on in 2002, behind senior starter and future Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury and back-up B. J. Symons. After a year, he became a student assistant to Mike Leach, gradually progressing to graduate assistant and then to receivers coach.
Following his departure from Texas Tech after the firing of Leach, Lincoln went on to serve five seasons as offensive coordinator at East Carolina University under Ruffin McNeill. Riley was hired by Bob Stoops at Oklahoma to be their offensive coordinator on January 12, 2015. In his first season at Oklahoma, Riley led the Sooners to the 7th ranked offense in the country and to the College Football Playoff. He also won the Broyles Award, awarded to the nation's top assistant coach.
