Police in Clayton County, Georgia, announced the alleged girlfriend of former Buffalo Bills tight end Buster Barnett, Lisa Brown, kidnapped and murdered Barnett's wife, Sandra Barnett, before killing herself, per WXIA-TV in Atlanta. Christopher B. Buchanan of WXIA-TV first reported Brown was engaged on a high-speed chase with authorities in Georgia and Alabama before her death:
The driver led officers heading west on Interstate 20 through Carroll and Haralson counties. When the chase crossed state lines, the Alabama State Patrol joined in. The chase continued to mile marker 208 where the vehicle stopped suddenly while being pursued. According to Clayton County authorities, the suspect reached into the back of the car, retrieved a gun and shot Barnett before turning the gun on herself.
According to the report, Brown kidnapped Barnett on Wednesday and was discovered by police Thursday, before leading them on the fatal chase. "Sandra was actually on the telephone with a friend when Lisa showed up at the front door," said Richard Gandee, Clayton County Police captain. "Lisa Brown was actually driving a vehicle owned by Buster." Gandee added Brown was on probation after she was found guilty of kidnapping her child, of whom she had lost custody, in Texas.
